The ability to clean my own clothes is key to my self esteem.

Welcome to
Brompton Washscape

Brompton Washscape Ltd is a not-for-profit company that was founded by Adrian Cassidy with one goal:

to create a well-designed washing machine that uniquely meets the requirements of wheelchair and limited mobility users who make up 20% of the UK/EU/US/Japanese populations.

We want this product to give people from around the world the chance and ability to maintain their independence through the simple act of washing, drying, and ironing their own clothes.

We want  to change peoples’ lives

There are no washing machines designed to specifically meet the needs of wheelchair and limited mobility users, and there’s a dependency on family, carers, and others to undertake basic laundry, which can feel constricting, humiliating, and demeaning.
Personal hygiene is a key indicator of well-being, and the ability for the user to clean their own clothes is a significant indicator on these measures and contributes to:
Self-esteem; Self-respect; Self-worth; Dignity and independence.

How your pledge could impact our research

Without funding or investment, we can’t deliver this revolutionary product, which has the potential to transform the lives of wheelchair and limited mobility users around the world.

I can load a washing machine for the first time, do you know how important that is?

No-one designs stylish things for disabled users. My neighbours would be jealous.

My Carer is going to love this. We can have a cup of tea and a chat, rather then her washing my underwear.
